Privacy

This Privacy Policy and Cookie Statement (“Privacy Policy”) explains how Design for Haiti (“We”or “Our” or “Us”) processes Personal Information in relation to the Service. For purposes of this Privacy Policy, “Service” shall mean at least the Design for Haiti Magazine Content, blogs, social media Content, advice columns, offerings of goods and/or services by Design for Haiti or third parties, job boards and other Content presented in the Design for Haiti Magazine. This Privacy Policy does not apply to websites, apps, destinations, or other offerings that We do not own or control, even if they are linked to from the Service.

You can access this Privacy Policy any time in the footer of the Design for Haiti home page or as otherwise indicated depending on the Service You are using. By accessing Design for Haiti, purchasing a Product, registering for any aspect of the Service, or otherwise accessing, visiting, or using the Service, You consent and agree to be bound by the terms of this Privacy Policy. If You do not agree with the terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy, You should not access, visit, and/or use the Service, or request or receive a Product. We advise that You Design for Haiti or retain a digital copy of this Privacy Policy for future reference.

In addition to reviewing this Privacy Policy, please also review Our User Agreement and any other terms and conditions that may be posted elsewhere in the Service or otherwise communicated to Our users, because the User Agreement and all such terms and conditions are also part of the Agreement between You and Us.

This Privacy Policy may be modified from time to time. Your continued access, visitation and/or use of the Service by You, or continued receipt of a Product, will constitute Your acceptance of any changes or revisions to this Privacy Policy.

Information Collection and Use. We collect information when You use the Services or purchase products or when You visit the Design for Haiti website and pages or the pages of the websites of certain Design for Haiti partners or when you enter a Design for Haiti or Design for Haiti sponsored contest. Design for Haiti may combine collected information with information We obtain from business partners or other companies.

When You register, We may ask for information such as Your name, email address, birth date, gender, ZIP code, occupation, industry, and other personal information. When You register with Design for Haiti and sign in and/or to the Services or Purchase goods, You are not anonymous to Us.

We will retain Your information for as long as Your account is active or as needed to provide You Services. If You wish to cancel Your account or request that We no longer use Your information to provide You services, You may delete Your account here. We may retain and use Your information as necessary to comply with Our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce Our agreements. Consistent with these requirements, We will try to delete Your information quickly upon request. However, We do not delete Your information from Our servers or as may be required by law or regulation.

Design for Haiti and Your Personal Information. We collect and receive, among other information, information related to Your past use of the Design for Haiti site and any Products and Services. Personal information is information about You that may be personal, such as Your name, address, email address, or phone number, and that may not be otherwise publicly available. This policy does not apply to the practices of companies that We do not own or control or to Third Parties that We do not employ or manage. They may each have their own privacy policies and You should review them.

We may collect information related to any transaction with Us and with some of Our business partners, including information about Your use of financial products and services that are offered or made available via the Design for Haiti website or the websites of Our business partners. Design for Haiti may now or in the future, provide or later adopt an Opt-in or Opt-Out policy with regard to information collecting. If You elect to Opt-Out, You may lose some features or functionality.

Email. We use electronic mail extensively. Your user experience with Our Services is entirely dependent on Our ability to send and receive electronic mail to You. You hereby expressly consent to Our recording and using Your email address(es), Your telephone and other communication devices for any purposes that may be relevant to the Services and efficient provision of the Services, including, but not limited to, system message, product updates, service announcements and other marketing messages. You hereby expressly agree that under no circumstances shall We have any liability for sending or receiving email to any User. It is not Our policy to send or facilitate Spam or other unsolicited marketing messages. You are expressly prohibited from using the Services in any manner that might be considered as engaging in such activities and We reserve the right to immediately terminate access to Our Site and/or the Services.

Cookies. We automatically receive and record information from Your computer and browser, including Your IP address, cookies, cookie information, software and hardware attributes, and the pages You view and/or request, including the pages of Our business partners. If You disable the ability to set or use cookies or if You are using third party software that prevents the use of cookies, You may not be able to use Our website properly or completely. We may set and access cookies on Your computer and may let other companies that show advertisements on some of Our pages set and access their cookies on Your computer. Other companies’ use of their own cookies is subject to their own privacy policies, not this one.

We use such information for the following purposes, a list which may not be complete: to customize the advertising and content You see, meeting Your requests for products and services, to improve Our services, to contact You, to conduct research, and provide anonymous reporting for internal and external clients and services.

Information Sharing and Disclosure.We do not rent, sell, or share personal information about You with other people or non-affiliated business partners or companies except as may be necessary to provide products or services You’ve requested, when We have Your permission, or under the following circumstances:

  • We provide the information to partners who work on behalf of or with Us under confidentiality agreements. These companies may use Your personal information to help Us communicate with You and Our marketing partners.
  • We will respond to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process, or to establish or exercise Our legal rights or defend against legal claims.
  • We believe it is necessary to share information in order to investigate, prevent, or act regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, violations of any Term and/or Condition of use, or as otherwise required by law.
  • We will transfer information if We are acquired by or merged with another company.
  • We will not share Your IP addresses or other information with third party advertisers, except as may be required to provide Services.
